Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the appointment of Nathan Ray as a Managing Director within its Healthcare Industry Group. Ray’s hiring exemplifies the practice’s continued growth, dedicated senior talent investments and expansion of offerings at the intersection of healthcare and technology. Ray’s joining augments the Healthcare Industry Group’s ability to develop bespoke, technology-driven solutions for healthcare services organizations to advance growth and profit goals.
Ray brings more than 20 years of healthcare and life sciences platforms, data science, information technology, products and operations experience to A&M. He advises healthcare, life sciences, and private equity (PE) clients on approaches to mitigate risk, differentiate, enhance and scale their companies and platforms through pre-close, post-close, exit preparation and strategic transformation. Ray works across the PE spectrum and has supported thousands of unique processes for hundreds of portfolio company and strategic clients.
“The current landscape of market disruption, economic volatility and regulatory shifts demands a 360-degree perspective and a fluency in the unique challenges facing healthcare and life sciences clients. Nathan brings that perspective and fluency to the table,” said Martin McGahan, Managing Director and Head of A&M’s Healthcare Industry Group. “His in-depth data, IT and operations knowledge will help clients navigate evolving technologies and chart a strategic course for long-term success.”
Ray focuses on developing expertise across high volume acquisitive areas, as well as new and evolving niches, across multiple healthcare sub-sectors including providers, payers, life sciences, insurance and healthcare information technology (HCIT). Noted for his ability to apply this approach, he helps large strategics build out or retool their merger and acquisitions (M&A) capabilities.
David Schlissel, an A&M Healthcare Industry Group Managing Director and leader of its Healthcare Services Practice stated, “Nathan’s hiring highlights the practice’s commitment to meet clients’ emerging needs with data-driven solutions focused on where technology is and where it’s going. His experience bolsters our capabilities and aligns with A&M’s operational heritage while furthering our ability to maximize value and drive change for clients.”
Before joining A&M, Ray served as a Partner and national lead of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Mergers and Acquisitions practice at West Monroe Partners. Prior to that, he served as an operating executive at Discovery Health, Xerox and Affiliated Computer Services, overseeing healthcare products, services and analytics, supporting a broad range of clients from State Medicaid to employer groups, service providers, patients and members.
