Virginia Commonwealth Bank Names SVP, Commercial Banking

Date: May 22, 2017 @ 07:00 AM

Virginia Commonwealth Bank has hired Bill Bien as Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking. In this role, Bien's responsibility will be developing commercial banking relationships in the Richmond region by helping businesses increase their probability of success.

"We are pleased to welcome Bill to Virginia Commonwealth Bank," said Randal R. Greene, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bay Banks of Virginia, Inc., holding company of Virginia Commonwealth Bank and VCB Financial Group. "Bill's extensive experience in commercial banking and leadership roles will further our growth trajectory and advance our commercial lending goals while achieving service excellence for our customers within the Richmond market."

Bien joins Virginia Commonwealth Bank with 35 years of banking experience specializing in both retail and commercial banking in the Richmond region. He most recently served as Senior Vice President in commercial banking with Park Sterling Bank after spending over fourteen years with First Capital Bank which was recently acquired by Park Sterling Bank.

In accepting this position as Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking, Bien stated, "I am very happy to be moving back to a locally oriented and managed community bank. I spent the majority of my career in smaller, local financial institutions and my customers through the years have preferred a more personable and interactive business relationship. VCB is well-positioned to enable me to continue to deliver the services and expertise our customers need."

"Virginia Commonwealth Bank continues to expand its team of seasoned professionals in the Richmond market.  We are very selective in our hiring process as we want to maintain our vision of a true community bank and customer-focused service built on relationships of trust and integrity. We are fortunate to have someone of Bill's caliber to join our commercial team," stated Gary Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer, Richmond Market Executive.
