Date: Jun 01, 2017 @ 08:00 AM

Imperial Capital, LLC announced that David Burns has joined the firm as a Senior Vice President in Restructuring & Recapitalization in the Investment Banking Group.  He is based in New York.

With over 15 years of experience in complex financial restructuring, distressed M&A, and special situations financing, Burns joins Imperial Capital following three years of independent consulting, advising clients on internal reorganization, international expansion, process improvement, governance and risk management, and corporate development.  Mr. Burns’ previous advisory experience includes time at Greenhill & Co., LLC, Merrill Lynch’s Global Special Situations Group, and Houlihan Lokey.  Prior to this, Burns practiced law in the business reorganization department of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae in New York, and served as law clerk to the Hon. Leif M. Clark, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Texas.

“We are thrilled to have David join us in New York as we continue to expand Imperial’s national Restructuring practice, focusing on advising middle market companies, sponsors, hedge funds, BDCs, and bank lenders involved in distressed and special situations,” said Robert Warshauer, Co-Head of Imperial’s Restructuring & Recapitalization group.

"Imperial has built a distinctive platform that combines restructuring advisory with mid-market capital markets expertise," said Burns. “I am excited to pursue new opportunities in the restructuring space as part of Imperial’s established and committed team, whose creativity and dedication to client service in challenging circumstances has been demonstrated repeatedly.”

Mr. Burns holds a BA from Vassar College (Phi Beta Kappa), a JD from the University of Texas School of Law, and an LLM from the University of Edinburgh.
