Duff & Phelps Adds Former CIA Op Exec to Legal Management Consulting Practice

Duff & Phelps, a global valuation and corporate finance advisor, announced that John Bass, a former operational executive for the Central Intelligence Agency’s National Clandestine Service, has joined the firm’s Legal Management Consulting Practice as a director. Bass brings over 27 years of experience in international affairs, including specific expertise in risk management, cybersecurity and insider threats. He will be based in the firm’s Washington D.C. office and will focus on leveraging his considerable network to expand Duff & Phelps’ global data risk and dispute advisory capabilities.

Hassan El Asraoui, Managing Director and Global Head of the Legal Management Consulting Group at Duff & Phelps, commented,

Previously in the Clandestine Service, Bass served as the Senior CIA Representative to the FBI for Counterterrorism, where he managed the evolving CIA-FBI relationship on counterterrorism. He advised the senior most CIA Counterterrorism and FBI leadership on operational issues and domestic and international legal complexities around privacy and information sharing. Earlier in his career, Bass held the role of CIA Chief of Base in an active warzone, where he was responsible for intelligence collection, counterintelligence efforts, cybersecurity, physical and human capital security and covert action activities.
