A Bankruptcy court in Delaware has cleared Vitamin World to shutter more than 100 stores as it continues to seek a buyer for the remianinder of the company. Store closing sales will begin immediately at select Vitamin World locations – offering shoppers deep discounts on top brand names in health and wellness products and more. Gordon Brothers has been chosen to oversee the sales process.
Since 1977, Vitamin World has been one of America’s largest retailers of health and wellness products for both men and women. Vitamin World filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on September 11 as part of their recapitalization strategy. While Gordon Brothers will be liquidating the inventory of 122 stores nationwide, Vitamin World will continue to operate over 150 of their stores. It is expected to be a very short sale, as opening discounts range from 30-50% off.
“Vitamin World offers an unmatched selection of premium nutritional products,” stated Rick Edwards, Co-President, Retail at Gordon Brothers. “This sale offers Vitamin World’s loyal customers the opportunity to stock up on their favorite products at significantly lower prices. Due to these substantial reductions, we encourage consumers to shop early to take advantage of the best selection of products available while supplies last.”
“Vitamin World Passport” points will continue to be earned and redeemed.
According to Reuters the seller of vitamins and nutritional supplements had 334 retail locations and more than $43 million in debt when it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September with hopes of reorganizing after suffering in a struggling market for retail chains.
