JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking has hired Tony Sciarrino as California segment head to lead the Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) business in the state. He takes on a newly created leadership role that is dedicated to the state, where Commercial Banking has more than a dozen offices.
Sciarrino will be responsible for leading a team of commercial bankers in California, delivering the firm’s global capabilities to local clients to help them achieve their goals – including Treasury Services, Asset Management, Credit and Investment Banking – and growing the MMBSI business in the state. He will be based in Los Angeles and report to John Simmons, head of MMBSI for JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking.
“California has grown to become the world’s fifth largest economy, and we’re fortifying our efforts to serve the vibrant companies in this state,” said Simmons. “Tony’s commercial banking expertise, decades of experience, and local relationships make him a great leader for our continued expansion in the state.”
“I’m thrilled to be joining JPMorgan Chase, especially at a time when there is a doubling down of efforts to serve my home state,” said Sciarrino. “Businesses in today’s complex environment need local bankers with the global resources to help them grow into the future, and I’m eager to build on the success stories in California.”
Sciarrino brings more than 26 years of financial services experience from his career with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He most recently served as the global client acquisition executive across the U.S. and Canada for the Global Commercial Bank. Prior to that, he was the market executive responsible for overseeing financial professionals that specialize in providing strategic debt, treasury and capital markets solutions to middle market companies in the California coastal region.
He is an active community member and currently serves as chairman of the board for the Los Angeles Sports Council, executive committee board member for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, board member of Discovery Cube Los Angeles, and member of YPOLA (Young Presidents’ Organization’s Los Angeles chapter).
Sciarrino has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of San Diego, and is a FINRA registered principal with Series 7, 63 and 24 securities licenses.
JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking’s MMBSI business has dedicated teams in the top 50 metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S., including specialized teams of bankers that focus on 16 industries such as technology, media and entertainment, agribusiness, healthcare and higher education.
