Veteran real estate finance executive Todd Bedingfield has joined real estate investment banking firm Sonnenblick-Eichner Company as a Senior Managing Director.
Bedingfield brings to Sonnenblick-Eichner Company more than three decades of institutional capital markets transactional experience, including a 21-year tenure with AIG Asset Management, the last 14 as head of the global insurer’s Western U.S. commercial loan origination platform.
Previously, Bedingfield was with SunAmerica Investments, responsible for the Los Angeles-based investment management firm’s expansion into the northeast U.S. Bedingfield joined AIG as vice president in 1999, following its acquisition of SunAmerica. For the past two years, he was principal and founder of TAB Capital, a commercial real estate and strategic advisory firm in Los Angeles. Over the course of his career, Bedingfield has originated more than $20 billion in complex real estate financings, including permanent loans, preferred equity, bridge loans, mezzanine/structured finance and CMBS investment.
“In addition to his impeccable reputation and impressive track record, our clients will benefit from his institutional perspective into real estate finance,” said Sonnenblick-Eichner Principal David Sonnenblick. “As a key member of our team, he will be better able to service his clientele by providing a variety of options for capital structures not offered at a life insurance company.”
“I’ve known David and his firm throughout my entire business life,” said Bedingfield. “Having done a significant amount of business with them, I have always been impressed with their professionalism and market knowledge. Now I have this great opportunity to work with David, Elliot (Eichner) and the rest of the team to leverage my 35 years of relationships and networking to bring capital and sponsors together.”
A graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned a BS in Marketing, Bedingfield is a member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council, Mortgage Banking Association and the California Mortgage Bankers Association.
