Allen & Overy announced that Jake Mincemoyer has joined the firm as partner and head of A&O’s U.S. Leveraged Finance practice, based in New York. Jake joins A&O from White & Case LLP, where he served as regional section head of the Americas Banking Section.
Jake has broad experience representing major commercial and investment banks as well as private credit funds and corporations in a wide range of leveraged and corporate finance transactions, including domestic and cross-border acquisition finance, investment-grade facilities, asset-based lending facilities, bridge facilities, debtor-in-possession (DIP) financings and restructurings.
During his time at White & Case, Jake also spent several years in the London office, where he gained extensive experience with cross-border financings. He has deep experience in all aspects of the leveraged lending market including the direct lending space (and recurring revenue financings), which has become a central component of many leveraged finance acquisitions in the U.S. market.
“It has been a strategic priority since 2016 to grow our Leveraged Finance practice, and with Jake’s preeminent market presence and excellent leadership, we are confident we can accelerate the momentum of our U.S. Leveraged Finance offering,” said Tim House, U.S. senior partner at A&O. “Beyond the complementary skills and relationships Jake brings to Allen & Overy, he also offers a vision for growth that aligns with our own.”
“Jake is known for his keen market knowledge, commercial acumen in negotiation and his skill in navigating complex financing structures and products, and his two decades of U.S. and international leveraged finance experience make him uniquely qualified to lead A&O’s U.S. Leveraged Finance practice into its next stage of growth,” said Philip Bowden, A&O’s co-head of Global Banking. “This is especially important as our international clients continue to pursue an increasing number of transactions with U.S. implications.”
Allen & Overy’s Leveraged Finance practice is regarded as one of the leading practices in the world, known for ground-breaking deals and structures that eventually become market standards. The U.S. practice was recently ranked in the top ten, by value and volume, across 14 categories in Debtwire’s 2020 North American Leveraged Loans Legal Advisors’ League Table Report.
Jake said, “Allen & Overy has a top-tier U.S. Leveraged Finance practice, one of the strongest global platforms and the financial foundation it needs to continue to grow its U.S. practice. I look forward to expanding my practice within the firm’s collaborative, cross-border culture and continuing to grow A&O’s U.S. Leveraged Finance team.”
