Capital One Bank announced the appointment of William Gates as head of Syndications for Capital One. Gates is responsible for expanding the Bank’s capabilities in loan syndications. He reports to Steven Tulip, head of Capital Markets.
“Bill brings invaluable knowledge and expertise to our overall growth plan,” said Tulip. “He is a great fit with our organization, especially as we continue to increase the breadth and depth of our relationships with commercial banking clients.”
Gates brings an extensive background in leading business growth and development initiatives to Capital One Bank, with 20 years of experience in capital markets. Prior to joining Capital One, Gates was a Managing Director for The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), where he was responsible for the underwriting and distribution of all loan transactions in the Americas. Gates has also served as the managing director in Leverage Capital Markets with UBS and worked with Merrill Lynch as a Managing Director in Leverage Loan Capital Markets. In addition, he was a founding member of Lehman’s Loan Syndicate group, supporting the launch and development of Lehman Brothers’ Loan Origination business during an eight-year period.

Gates is a graduate of Dartmouth College and has an MBA from Columbia University. He resides in New York.
