Kevin J. Morley

After heading up the debt finance group (including the Asset-Based Lending and Project Finance teams) of another major Canadian firm for a number of years, Kevin Morley recently joined Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt’s Banking and Financial Services Group as a senior partner. Morley is a leading debt finance lawyer with more than 25 years of experience. As a key advisor to numerous financial institutions, funds and other credit providers, he has significant experience in multijurisdictional asset-based, project, acquisition, commercial, cash flow, equipment, subordinate and mezzanine financings; financial institution regulation; capital market transactions; acquisitions, establishment and divestitures of finance businesses and portfolios; and financial institution licensing and regulation. Morley also has significant insolvency and restructuring experience, having represented creditors in connection with the restructuring or recovery of billions of dollars of debt. He is recognized in the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada; Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-border Corporate Lawyers; The Best Lawyers in Canada (Lawyer of the Year 2012 – Equipment Finance); Chambers Global; IFLR; and PLC. He is also a member of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.
Morley collaborated closely with
Richard M. Borins,
a partner in the Business Law Department of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. Borins is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group and is involved in representing both borrowers and lenders in a variety of secured transactions. His range of experience includes numerous domestic and cross-border syndicated loan transactions, domestic commercial lending transactions and domestic and cross-border public and private asset securitizations. Richard has written several articles and has spoken at numerous conferences in the areas of corporate lending and personal property security law.
