KPMG Names New Chairman of Global Financial Services Practice

October 30, 2017, 08:01 AM

James P. Liddy, who has more than 35 years serving KPMG’s global clients and has held various leadership positions within the Firm, has been named Chairman of KPMG’s Global Financial Services practice.

Liddy succeeds Jeremy Anderson, who has led the practice since 2010 and is retiring. In addition to the global role, Liddy will also serve as the U.S. Financial Services Line of Business leader.

“Jim is an extremely accomplished financial services leader with a wealth of knowledge and experience,” said Bill Thomas, Chairman, KPMG International. “He has a deep understanding of the critical issues facing financial services organizations today and will bring great value to our global organization and clients around the world.”

“This is a disruptive time for the financial services industry as we navigate a shifting regulatory environment, massive technological innovation and increasing competition,” said Liddy. “I look forward to continuing to work with our clients as they make important decisions around regulatory compliance, digital transformation, cyber security and enhancing the customer experience.”

Liddy praised Jeremy Anderson for his leadership while serving as Chairman of KPMG’s Global Financial Services practice.

“Jeremy’s vision for KPMG’s FS business came from his deep insights into the role that technology would play in shaping the industry, combined with his knowledge of our clients and their responses to the disruption we see today. This vision shaped our strategy from the global financial crisis through the rise of fintech and into the age of intelligent automation and customer centricity,” Liddy said.

Most recently, Liddy was the Americas leader for Global Financial Services and also served as a member of the Global Financial Services leadership team. From 2010-2015, Liddy served as Vice Chair, Audit and as a member of the U.S. firm’s Management Committee. Prior to 2010, Liddy was head of Financial Services in the U.S., as well as a member of the Global FS leadership team.

Liddy is a well-respected voice in business, having been selected by the U.S. National Association of Corporate Directors on three separate occasions as one of the 100 most influential leaders in corporate governance.

Liddy has served as the global lead partner for a number of KPMG’s largest financial services clients. He has also served as either engagement partner or SEC reviewing partner on numerous leading global financial services clients. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and received his BBA in accounting from Iona College.
