November 30, 2017, 08:00 AM

Sidley Austin LLP announced that Alexander Temel and William Schwab have joined the firm as partners in its Boston office. They are members of Sidley’s global Private Equity practice. Both were formerly with Latham & Watkins LLP.

“We are excited to have attracted top talent like Alex and Bill as we continue to expand our private equity capabilities both here in Boston and globally,” said Robert Buhlman, managing partner of Sidley’s Boston office. “Private equity and related transactional work have been part of the strategy for expanding the Boston office since its inception. We believe having Alex and Bill on the ground working with our global team will be a significant advantage to our private equity clients across a variety of transaction types, financing structures and industries.”

Temel has considerable experience advising private equity clients on early- and late-stage private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, leveraged recapitalizations and search fund investments and acquisitions. He represents clients in transactions across a variety of industry sectors, in particular, software, financial services, business and consumer services, healthcare, oil and gas, and media. Mr. Temel also serves as primary external counsel to a range of privately held companies, including search funds, and represents entrepreneurs and management teams in connection with rollover transactions and new ventures.

Schwab focuses his practice on advising private equity funds and their portfolio companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts and secondary transactions as well as leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations. He has experience in representing searchers, search fund investors and search fund companies on matters relating to fundraising, acquisitions, company operations and exit strategies.

“The firm has made substantial investments in the private equity space recently in many offices,” said Erik Dahl, co-leader of the firm’s Private Equity practice. “We now have 140 private equity-focused lawyers across 20 different offices, and bringing Alex and Bill on board reflects our continued commitment to enhance our global private equity capabilities.”
