Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the addition of Clayton Gammill and the appointment of Byron Smyl, as Atlanta-based Managing Directors with its Corporate Transformation Services practice. The combined experience of Gammill and Smyl, previously a Managing Director with A&M’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice, demonstrates the firm’s commitment to address complex transformation challenges facing clients.
“Individually and collectively Clayton and Byron bring in-depth and unique skill sets that will help us meet growing market demand for companies to transform and address a range of transformation issues,” said Joseph Berardino, a Managing Director who leads Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Transformation Services and the East Region Corporate Performance Improvement practice. “Byron’s restructuring experience provides an operational lens through which he advises clients. Clayton’s expertise designing organization plans and executing organizational initiatives enhances our enterprise transformation capabilities. The combination of their deep knowledge enriches our offerings and adds value for our clients,” explained Mr. Berardino.
Gammill brings over 20 years of change management, business strategy, systems implementation, project execution and organizational transformation experience. He is recognized for delivering large scale transformation, enterprise technology implementations and change management consulting services to clients in numerous industries including: chemicals, telecommunications, consumer products, manufacturing and financial services.
Prior to joining A&M, he was a principal in the People and Advisory Services practice at EY for seven years.
Gammill earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a master’s in business administration from Texas State University.
Smyl, a 12-year leader at A&M, specializes in advising management teams, lenders and other stakeholders at healthy and underperforming companies. He brings more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications and consulting as well as in-depth technology, media and telecom (TMT) expertise. Smyl, has served in numerous interim management and financial advisory roles across a wide range of industries including telecommunications, media, technology, oil and gas, thermodynamics, retail flooring chain and logistics. Before joining A&M, Smyl was a Managing Director at XRoads Solutions Group, LLC.
Smyl earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Arizona State University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and has passed all parts of the Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor exam. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, American Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors and Turnaround Management Association.
