Allen & Overy Expands Securitization and Structured Finance Practice

March 12, 2019, 08:00 AM

Allen & Overy announced Nick Robinson has joined the firm’s securitization and structured finance practice as a partner based in New York. Robinson joins from Milbank LLP where he practiced for almost 15 years, most recently serving as Special Counsel in the Alternative Investments Practice.

Robinson has extensive experience representing underwriters, asset managers and investors in collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), with a focus on broadly syndicated and middle market CLOs. He also specializes in representing lenders and borrowers in structured loan facilities, CLO warehouse facilities and a variety of other asset backed securities transactions. He is frequently consulted on regulatory matters, in particular as to U.S. and EU risk retention compliance.

“Nick’s impressive CLO expertise, along with his keen ability to manage deals across both the arranger and manager sides, is complementary to our existing practice and will enable us to continue our impressive growth in the CLO market in the U.S. and to expand our global capabilities. Growing the CLO practice is a strategic objective for us and Nick adds depth and experience to this important product area, benefiting our capital markets clients, whether based in the U.S. or internationally.” said Lawrence Berkovich, Partner at Allen & Overy.

Over the past three years, Allen & Overy has quickly grown its global CLO practice. In 2018, Allen & Overy advised on deals with an aggregate value of over $48 billion. The group is run by Franz Ranero in London and Lawrence Berkovich in New York.

Robinson received his Juris Doctor from Boston College and his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from New York University.
