Boathouse Capital, a Philadelphia-based private equity firm, is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has appointed Brett Shively as Chief Executive Officer for the MIS Training Institute (MISTI) and its partner company, LeaderQuest.
Shively, a 25-year leader in the adult and higher education and training sector, previously held the position of President and CEO of OnCourse Learning.
"During this time of transformation and integration of our B2B and B2C training businesses, there is no better person to accelerate growth and innovation at MISTI and LeaderQuest than Brett Shively," said Chong Moua, Partner at Boathouse Capital. "Brett is a proven leader with tremendous experience in adult learning and higher education, across on-line, instructor-led and brick & mortar environments. His vision for unlocking the potential of the MISTI and LeaderQuest content, training and client portfolios is exactly what our combined entity will need to establish itself as a differentiated, high-growth learning brand around the globe."
During his career, Mr. Shively has spearheaded the turn-around and growth of multiple ventures including OnCourse Learning (Adtalem Global Education & Bertelsmann Education Group), Everspring, Trident University International, DeVry Education Group, Becker Professional Education, and Kaplan Professional. Brett's background includes deep experience in regulated industries with a focus on business development and sales. Shively holds a degree in Communications and Political Science from Georgetown College. He will be based in the company's Denver, Colorado headquarters.
Shively said, "I am honored and excited to lead MISTI and LeaderQuest as a combined venture. Our leadership team believes in One Company... One Team, knowing that by leveraging the combined talents and assets of our two companies, we are stronger and more competitive together."
"I could not be more inspired by the potential of a company whose primary purpose is to leverage training and technology to positively impact business outcomes and improve the lives of those who participate in IT, IT Audit, Networking, and Cybersecurity careers," said Shively. "It is inspiring to see stories of people whose lives took a whole new trajectory thanks to the work we do every day. It's both humbling and motivating to everyone on our team."
In conjunction with Mr. Shively's appointment, Tony Keefe steps down as CEO of MISTI, following the successful divestiture of MISTI's cyber security conference and digital content businesses earlier in the year. This follows the September 2019 departure of LeaderQuest's founder George Cohlmia as CEO of that company. "We want to sincerely thank Tony and George for helping to create two amazingly strong businesses built on foundations of reputation and performance. Their leadership and vision have set up the company to achieve tremendous potential as a combined, brand entity soon," commented Chong Moua, General Partner at Boathouse Capital.
