Calera Capital, a leading middle-market private equity firm, announced the appointment of Kevin Miller, the former Chairman and CEO of Benevis and Executive Chairman of Prospira Paincare, as an Operating Partner.

Miller will assist Calera in evaluating and building attractive platform investments in the healthcare and business services sectors. Calera intends to commit $40 to $200 million of equity per investment in a range of transaction types which are primarily focused on family or founder-owned businesses. Transactions may also include recapitalizations of private and public companies, corporate divestitures, and growth equity investments.

Mr. Miller brings more than 20 years of experience building and leading successful healthcare and business services organizations. He is currently Chairman of National Spine and Pain, the market leader in the interventional pain management market, and previously served as Executive Chairman of Prospira Paincare, where he recruited a seasoned management team and executed an acquisition-focused strategy that grew the practice to 118 offices across 11 states. Before that, Mr. Miller was CEO of Benevis, a comprehensive dental platform that focused on providing dental services to children in the United States and delivered transformational revenue and EBITDA growth during his tenure. He has also served as Vice President and General Manager at Ariba, a leading supply chain and procurement software provider. Mr. Miller began his career at General Electric, where he worked in various businesses, including GE Capital as part of a global M&A team.

Mr. Miller is a board member of two of Calera’s current portfolio companies, Bay State Physical Therapy and United Dental Partners. He also previously served on the board of Direct General which was a portfolio company of Calera.

Brian Fearnow, a Managing Director of Calera, said, "We are thrilled that Kevin has expanded his role with Calera as an Operating Partner. We have worked with him for many years as one of our Executive Partners and seen firsthand his strong ability to help management teams professionalize and grow their businesses. Kevin exemplifies Calera’s approach of forming strong partnerships with management teams and focusing on strategic initiatives that create long-term, sustainable franchise value."

Added Mark Williamson, a Managing Partner of Calera, “Calera has a nearly 30-year history of partnering with industry operators and a proven track record of building value across multiple businesses. Our Operating Partners bring strong strategic and operational insights to our portfolio companies and are a critical part of our success. Kevin is a terrific fit with our model and we are pleased to welcome him to this new role.”

“I am excited to expand my role with the Calera team,” stated Mr. Miller. “I've worked with many private equity organizations throughout my career, and Calera stands out for its strong partnership-oriented approach. Calera has an excellent track record of building enduring value, and we see significant opportunity to extend this approach to businesses that align with my operating background in healthcare and business services.”
