Windels Marx Adds Shur and Dempsey to Practice

Windels Marx announced that Paul H. Shur has joined the firm as partner, resident in the New York office. James A. Dempsey has also joined the firm as special counsel, resident in the New Brunswick office. Both Shur and Dempsey bring with them a significant amount of experience in financial transactions and workouts and restructurings, as noted below.

Shur is a partner with more than 30 years of experience in commercial transactions, financial transactions, loan workouts and restructures. He has handled numerous matters in the following areas: Sales and lease transactions, secured transactions, asset based financing, real estate financing, loan workout restructures, real estate title defense and litigation, creditors' rights litigation and commercial and corporate finance.

He represents national and regional banks in large lending matters and has significant experience advising on the Uniform Commercial Code in the areas of sales and lease transactions, negotiable instruments, bank deposits and collections, letters of credit, investment securities, and secured transactions.

Shur frequently lectures and speaks at various bar associations and trade groups. He has also authored numerous articles on the Uniform Commercial Code and commercial finance in various publications, including New York Law Journal, New Jersey Lawyer, ABF Journal, The Banking Law Journal, and Uniform Commercial Code Law Journal.

Dempsey is special counsel and represents financial institutions and creditors with a concentration on all aspects of commercial lending and secured transactions, including: asset-based financing, mortgage warehousing,  middle market lending, construction financing and syndicated credit arrangements.

Dempsey also advises clients on a wide variety of loan workouts, forbearance matters and credit restructurings. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions financing, as well. In addition to deals that focus primarily around creditor representations, Jim frequently counsels clients on various corporate matters, as well as bank financing.
