Alvarez & Marsal Bolsters Forensic Technology Capabilities in Hong Kong

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has further expanded the scope of its forensic technology solutions capabilities by adding Jay Chong as a Senior Director with its Disputes and Investigations practice in Hong Kong.

Mr. Chong has more than 20 years of experience in technology and consulting, including 12 years focused on forensic technology, digital forensic investigations and electronic discovery matters involving fraud, intellectual property, regulatory investigations and disputes. He advises on large-scale forensic data collection and works with corporations and law firms on e-discovery best practices and local regulatory compliance regarding sensitive data. Mr. Chong has extensive knowledge of digital forensic matters in global regulatory investigations involving the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Chinese anti-corruption regulatory bodies, as well as U.S. litigation and arbitration.

Aligned with our operational heritage and result-oriented culture, Jay will help us grow and lead our forensic technology solutions’ offering in Asia.”

Mr. Chong’s broad range of notable assignments includes a large-scale e-discovery for the cross-border FCPA investigation of a U.S. pharmaceutical company across 14 cities in China. He also managed high-profile intellectual property disputes for Chinese technology companies, one of which involved deploying an on-client-site e-discovery solution and managing more than six terabytes of data from processing and exporting stages to on-site review.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chong served as the Regional Director, APAC Forensic Services of Epiq Systems, where he was responsible for establishing and building out the digital forensic team for Asia. He also co-founded a business in the fintech sector.

Mr. Chong earned a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Western Michigan University Haworth College of Business. He is an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Mr. Chong is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
