The International Association of Commercial Collectors, Inc. (IACC) and the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) hosted their first-ever joint Mid-Year Collection Conference in Napa Valley, Calif., July 17-19, 2016, where higher level commercial collection professionals met to learn and discuss new ideas to strengthen their business strategies.
This year’s conference focused on different jurisdictional laws, collectors and salespersons relating to bonuses and commissions, 10 mistakes to avoid for credit grantors, noteworthy decisions on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and hot topics in the commercial industry. In addition, the Mid-Year Collection Conference provided ample opportunities for networking including a reception, a wine tasting event, dinner on the patio and an optional golf event.
“The IACC and CLLA have such great resources for their members what better way to offer an additional benefit than to bring the two together to have just one meeting where ideas and best practices can be shared,” said IACC President Greg Cohen.
“Having the joint meeting allowed many members who wouldn’t normally attend a summer meeting the chance to attend. This gave them the opportunity to meet more of their industry colleagues and also take in the latest topics in the industry,” said CLLA President Peter C. Califano.
CLLA Western Region Chair, Bob Pollak added, “There couldn’t have been a better gathering of two organizations than this. Attendees had great reviews on everything, from the education to, of course, the location.”
