Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has bolstered its performance improvement capabilities with the addition of Dwight Hill, who advises retailers to improve sales and profitability and enhance the customer journey. Hill’s appointment illustrates A&M’s ongoing commitment to corporate transformation services that drive value for clients.
Hill brings more than 25 years of experience as both a retailer and a consultant to retailers. He spent half of his career in leadership roles ranging from Buyer to VP-level positions with Neiman Marcus, Michaels Stores and Zale’s. On the consulting side, he has been a trusted adviser for Fortune 1000 retailers across all formats including luxury, department stores, food / drug / mass, specialty apparel, hard-lines and convenience.
“Already struggling to keep pace with unprecedented disruption, retailers are now faced with a fast approaching, hypercompetitive holiday season in which there will be immense pressure to race to the bottom on price,” said Joseph Berardino, leader of the firm’s Corporate Transformation Services practice. “Dwight’s expertise and our firm’s operational excellence will allow us to continue to bring real solutions to clients who are facing change and disruption while trying to transform their businesses to meet customer demands.”
Hill designs efficient operating models to streamline the omni-channel customer journey and implements effective inventory management and planning strategies. His expertise will further the firm’s ability to help retail clients create flexible shopping experiences for their customers, advance their competitive edge and grow their market share.
Hill has extensive experience with streamlining store operations as well as designing and implementing programs to help reduce costs and improve earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA); productivity; and working capital. He has led multiple selling, general and administrative expenses (SG&A) analysis projects for retailers with revenues of more than $1 billion that have resulted in improved operations, labor optimization and customer shopping experiences.
Hill earned an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He holds a LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
