Scherzer International announced the approval of its self-certification of compliance with the new EU-US Privacy Shield after the reviewal of the U.S. Department of Commerce (the “DOC”). The new framework, jointly designed by the DOC and the European Commission, aims to protect personal data transferred from EU countries to the United States. Scherzer’s certification of compliance with this privacy framework further enhances its commitment to data privacy and security.
The goal of the framework is to provide companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a mechanism to comply with EU data protection requirements in support of transatlantic commerce. With strong compliance and transparency obligations for participants, U.S. government oversight and increased cooperation with EU data protection authorities, the framework provides robust and enforceable protections for the personal data of European Economic Area individuals.
