Bibby Financial Services Canada (BFS) announced two new executive appointments, with Calum Williamson promoted to the role of President and James Poston now serving as Executive Vice President of Business Development. In these expanded roles, Williamson and Poston will take on additional responsibilities and continue to lead the company’s growth in Canada from its Mississauga headquarters.
Since its founding in 2006, BFS Canada has provided more than $2.25 billion in debts factored to companies representing virtually every industry including staffing, manufacturing, distribution, and transportation and logistics. BFS Canada delivered $300 million in financing to 250 Canadian companies in 2016, bringing the total number of businesses served over its 10 years trading to more than 800.

As President of BFS Canada, Williamson will focus on growing the company’s factoring and asset-based lending (ABL) portfolios and will lead efforts to expand in Québec, Ontario and other Canadian provinces. Williamson brings more than two decades of commercial finance experience to this position. He previously held the Executive Vice President of Operations role for BFS Canada where he managed teams from the company’s two Canadian offices and ensured that clients received industry-leading customer service. Before joining BFS Canada in 2013, Williamson served as Managing Director at BFS in Scotland for two years and was responsible for boosting profits by almost 70 percent while having the highest client recommendation score of all of the BFS offices in the UK.
Leading BFS Canada’s Business Development team, Poston will manage the sales and marketing functions for the Canada offices, including the development of a nationwide sales strategy focused on providing clients and their advisors with flexible financing solutions. He joined BFS Canada more than a decade ago as a member of the graduate entry program and has an in-depth knowledge of the Canadian commercial finance business from his work across BFS’s different financing solutions.
With more than three decades of combined experience, Williamson and Poston are uniquely qualified to lead BFS Canada’s strategic expansion and build upon the exceptional work and success they’ve already achieved with momentum. These new executive appointments will capitalize on BFS’s international experience, strengthen its relationship-based funding approach and solidify its position as a commercial finance leader in Canada.
