Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group announced that Matthew Savino has joined the firm as a Managing Director and Head of U.S. Capital Markets within the Global Capital Markets team. Savino comes to Carlyle from BlackRock, Inc. where he was a Managing Director, serving most recently as its Global Head of Alternatives Sourcing and previously as its Co-Head of Global Capital Markets. He is based in New York.
Savino works with Carlyle’s US-based corporate private equity teams on publicly syndicated and privately placed loan, bond and equity offerings for existing portfolio companies and new acquisitions.
Brian Lindley, Head of Global Capital Markets, said, “Matt’s extensive capital markets experience will be a significant resource for Carlyle’s investment teams and will help create value for our investors. He is a critical part of the buildout of our capital markets team.”
Savino said, “This is a rare opportunity to be a part of a critical, growing team at Carlyle. I’m excited to collaborate with my new colleagues to best serve our investors.”
Prior to his time at BlackRock, Savino worked as an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance Group at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers and as a financing lawyer at Latham & Watkins LLP.
