February 26, 2018, 07:40 AM

BBVA Compass announced that Steve Flynn has been named City President of its Commercial Banking Office in Los Angeles, where he's joined by new Relationship Manager Jon McMullen.

Led by Flynn, the team will develop the bank's largest commercial banking relationships in the Los Angeles metro and Southern California market from Santa Barbara to Orange County in an effort to deliver the global resources of BBVA Compass to local commercial clients.

"Steve is our first City President dedicated strictly to the Greater Los Angeles area, which tells you how important this market is to us," said BBVA Compass California CEO Everett Orrick. "We're putting the full weight of our global organization behind our efforts here, and we're confident that Steve and the team he builds will take advantage of those world-class resources to do great things for their clients."

Flynn has more than 30 years of experience in finance and has deep knowledge of capital markets products serving a wide range of industries, including technology and entertainment. Before joining BBVA Compass, he managed a team of commercial bankers focused on serving middle-market clients in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Flynn received his bachelor's in business, economics and geology at Rice University in Houston. He carries FINRA series 79 and 63 (California) licenses.

McMullen has 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, and has worked in commercial banking, investment banking, capital markets and business strategy consulting. He has spent most of his career in Los Angeles working with middle-market companies, but also worked with large corporations in New York.

McMullen got bachelor's degrees in economics and psychology at the University of California at San Diego. He has an MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and carries FINRA series 79 and 63 (California) licenses.
