California BanCorp, the holding company for California Bank of Commerce, named Thomas A. Sa as its next Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer effective May 20, 2019. Current Chief Financial Officer Randall Greenfield, who has served at the Bank since its inception in 2007, will continue through an interim transition period prior to his retirement.
“We are very excited to welcome Tom to California Bank of Commerce at a time of tremendous growth, both in total assets and expanded markets. As its founding Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategic Officer, Tom was instrumental in the formation and growth of San Jose-based Bridge Bank and its holding company, Bridge Capital Holdings, which grew to be a $1.9 billion Nasdaq-listed company at the time of its sale to Western Alliance Bancorp in 2015. Tom’s experience will be vital in the Bank’s next chapter of growth,” said Steven Shelton, California Bank of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer.
“I am thrilled to join California Bank of Commerce at a critical juncture in its evolution,” said Thomas A. Sa. “The Bank offers a commercial banking model that I am very familiar with through my past experiences. I look forward to building upon the Bank’s success while continuing to deliver strong financial performance.” California Bank of Commerce recently exceeded $1 billion in total assets. The Bank has also expanded into the Sacramento market, bringing its commercial banking services to Central Valley mid-market businesses.
“Randy has been the Bank’s Chief Financial Officer from the beginning, and much of our historic success can be attributed to his leadership. His years of service have truly been felt and we wish him nothing but the best in his retirement,” said Shelton.
Sa joins California Bank of Commerce with three decades of financial and strategic experience in both management and board roles, most recently serving as Chief Risk Officer at Western Alliance Bank. Sa was the founding Chief Financial Officer for Bridge Bank, NA and its holding company, Bridge Capital Holdings. Previously, Sa served in senior financial management roles in banking, leasing and software companies. Sa is a CPA and began his career in public accounting in Silicon Valley. He received a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting from Humboldt State University.
