Phoenix 2019 Year in Review: Diverse and Robust

Phoenix has released its 2019 Year in Review. It described 2019 as a busy year with 100+ engagements across its three service groups – Phoenix Management Services, Phoenix Transaction Advisory Services, and Phoenix Capital Resources.

New Promotions

  • Patrick Bellot was promoted to Director of the firm. Since joining Phoenix, Mr. Bellot has participated on more than 60 engagements where Phoenix advised, managed, and raised capital for companies in both the public and private sectors.
  • R.J. Bell was promoted to Senior Analyst of the firm. In 2019, R.J. served as an Analyst for New England Motor Freight which was recognized by M&A Advisor as Restructuring of the Year in the $25 – $50 million category. R.J. is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina where he obtained Bachelor degree’s in both Finance and International Business. He is a registered investment banking representative with FINRA and holds his Series 79 license.
  • Kevin Doyle was promoted to Senior Analyst of the firm. Since joining Phoenix in 2018, he has assisted Phoenix clients on several engagements providing financial analysis. Kevin also served as an Analyst building cash flows and managing the cash and winddown operations for New England Motor Freight, Restructuring of the Year. Kevin is a graduate from Villanova University where he obtained his Bachelor degree in Economics.

New Hires

  • Larry Blackman joined Phoenix as a Senior Director in the firm’s Boston, MA office. He brings to Phoenix more than 20+ years of experience in finance and operations. He is a financial leader that utilizes a hands-on approach to deliver innovative and exceptional results in competitive environments. Mr. Blackman is an honors graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor degree in Finance and Management. He earned his MBA in Finance and Marketing from Babson College.
  • Kyle Landis joined Phoenix as an Analyst in the firm’s Philadelphia, PA office. Prior to joining Phoenix, Kyle served as a Portfolio Associate at Cognetic Capital Advisors. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology where he earned a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration Banking and Finance. Kyle is a registered representative with FINRA and holds his Series 7 and 66 licenses.
  • Marc Sullivan joined Phoenix as Managing Director in the firm’s Atlanta, GA office. He brings to the firm more than 20+ years of executive management and finance expertise with extensive international experience. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Sullivan has worked closely with both high growth and transitional companies to deliver sustainable, actionable solutions to operational, financial, and governance challenges. Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Sullivan worked in a variety of entrepreneurial and leadership roles. Mr. Sullivan earned his MBA from the Harvard School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Management. In addition, he holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) designation from the CFA Institute.
  • Jason Egger joined Phoenix as a Director in the firm’s Cleveland, OH office. Jason joined Phoenix after spending 15 years with KeyBank as a Relationship Manager / Loan Workout Officer. Mr. Egger brings to the firm over 23 years of financial expertise with a proven track record for crafting creative strategies to improve financial outcomes. Jason is a graduate from Bowling Green State University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a specialization in Business Management.
  • Sean Rieder joined Phoenix as a Senior Analyst in the firm’s Philadelphia, PA office. Sean joined Phoenix after spending 6 years with Hirtle, Callaghan & Co. as a Senior Analyst. Mr. Rieder holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute. In addition, he is registered with FINRA and holds his Series 65 license. Sean is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Pennsylvania State University – Smeal College of Business.

2019 Awards, Recognitions, and Certifications

  • Michael Jacoby was a recipient of the Philadelphia Inquirer’s 2019 Influencers of Finanace Award.
  • R.J. Bell earned his Series 79 and became a licensed investment banking representative with FINRA.
  • Recognized by M&A Advisor for Restructuring of the Year Award for the Chapter 11 Restructuring of New England Motor Freight. Vince Colistra, Senior Managing Director and Shareholder served as Chief Restructuring Advisor to New England Motor Freight, one of the largest less-than-truckload carriers in the Northeast U.S., during its bankruptcy proceeding.
  • Recognized by M&A Advisor for Restructuring of the Year Award for the Restructuring of COFINA, a government-owned corporation of Puerto Rico issuing government bonds to pay and refinance the public debt of Puerto Rico.
