April 09, 2020, 09:10 AM

Alvarez & Marsal announces that Andrea Gonzalez, a Chicago-based Managing Director who joined the firm’s Disputes and Investigations practice six and one-half years ago, will now serve in its Unsecured Creditors’ Committee (UCC) Advisory practice. Ms. Gonzalez’s extensive accounting and investigative expertise bolsters the UCC Advisory practice’s ability to maximize value for clients amidst a turbulent economic environment.

Ms. Gonzalez has in-depth experience advising various healthy and distressed companies, unsecured creditors, law firms, corporations and other stakeholders by conducting fraud investigations, preparing valuation estimates, pursuing litigation and resolving complex business, accounting and financial matters. She works with A&M clients across a wide range of industries, including agriculture, casino/gaming, consumer products, e-commerce, electronics, financial services, health care, insurance, manufacturing, medical products, pharmaceuticals, private equity, real estate, shipbuilding and telecommunications.

Richard Newman and Mark Greenberg, Managing Directors and Co-Leaders of A&M’s UCC Advisory practice, said, “In a landscape of compounding economic uncertainty, we anticipate that an increasing number of cases will find recovery through litigation. Andrea’s in-depth experience advising on distressed company situations in the bankruptcy court, and investigating potential causes of action amplifies our ability to help unsecured creditors’ committees maximize recoveries.”

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Gonzalez spent two years with Cendrowski Corporate Advisors (CCA) as a Senior Manager in the litigation support and valuation practice in Chicago. Prior to CCA, she served as a forensic accountant in the FBI’s Chicago Division and was responsible for managing complex financial fraud investigations. Before the FBI, Ms. Gonzalez was a Director at AlixPartners in the Financial Advisory Services practice where she focused on litigation consulting matters.

“Over the course of her tenure at A&M, Andrea has regularly worked with our UCC Advisory team,” said Stephen Wallace, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of A&M’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice. “This move illustrates how A&M leverages its integrated approach and multi-faceted professionals to best address client needs and changing market realities. Additionally, it highlights the firm’s commitment to meaningful professional growth and development.”

Ms. Gonzalez is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Illinois. She is a member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and Women’s White-Collar Defense Association (WWCDA). In addition, she is the Treasurer of the Chicago chapter of IWIRC and a member of the TMA’s Chicago/Midwest chapter Steering Committee.
