Hunter Point Capital Adds Coleman to Lead GP Coverage Group

March 15, 2021, 08:10 AM

Hunter Point Capital, an independent investment firm focused on taking minority stakes in middle-market alternative asset managers, announced that Brad Coleman will be joining as a partner to lead the firm’s GP Coverage Group. At HPC, Mr. Coleman will continue the thought leadership and strategic advice for alternative investment managers for which he has become well-known.

Mr. Coleman joins from Citi where he was most recently the Chairman of the Global Asset Managers Group, helping to lead the investment bank’s coverage of alternative asset managers, as well as pure-play private equity firms and their respective portfolio companies. Mr. Coleman brings over 30 years of experience in the alternatives sector, the last 18 in various leadership roles in Citi’s alternatives practice.

“I am excited to welcome Brad to the senior leadership team of Hunter Point Capital,” said Avi Kalichstein, CEO of Hunter Point Capital. “Brad brings a wealth of invaluable industry experience, having been involved in many of the most significant transactions in the alternative investment and private equity sectors. He will play a critical role as HPC expands its platform, helping GPs achieve their long-term business objectives faster and with more certainty.”

Mr. Coleman added, “There is significant growth and opportunity in the alternatives sector, specifically within the middle-market, which is currently being underserved by existing players. I am delighted to join Hunter Point Capital to help forge long-term strategic partnerships that will create value for GPs around the globe.”

Mr. Coleman’s more than 30-year investment banking career began at Salomon Brothers in 1988, after he received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mr. Coleman will begin his role at HPC in early April 2021.

Hunter Point Capital also recently hired Scott Hamner as Managing Director within HPC’s Strategic Value Group and Ross Sarraf as a Vice President within its GP Coverage Group. Mr. Hamner previously was a Partner at AlpInvest Partners, a Dutch private equity investor owned by The Carlyle Group. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director and Partner in the Customized Fund Investment Group at Credit Suisse where he oversaw all of the group’s buyout funds sourcing and investment activities. Mr. Hamner received a J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1999 and a BA in Political Science from Southwestern University.

Mr. Saraf joins from Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, where he was a corporate associate, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, and has extensive experience working on GP stakes transactions. He graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in History in 2008, before earning his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law.
