SierraConstellation Partners hired Jim Peters, a trusted advisor to CEOs, boards and management teams for over three decades, as a Managing Director to lead the firm’s newly-formed Performance Improvement practice.
As practice leader, Peters will oversee a team of dedicated performance improvement advisors at SCP who will work closely with middle-market companies and their financial sponsors to improve earnings, capture synergies from mergers and transactions, more effectively manage working capital, and address a range of other performance challenges focused on driving profitability and EBITDA growth.
“Performance improvement consulting is a natural extension of our interim leadership and financial advisory practice, and something that has been part and parcel of what we have done at SCP from the outset,” said Larry Perkins, SCP Founder and CEO. “As we have grown, we see launching this targeted practice as something that would be very valuable to the markets we serve and an opportunity to expand our offerings to a new group of partners in different stages of change. I’m thrilled to bring a proven leader in Jim Peters on board to focus on building this specific practice and expand our offerings.”
Perkins added, “Middle-market firms and their sponsors are proactively tackling challenges before they become a crisis to avoid more difficult choices down the road. Jim has the right experience to put this advice into action and bring this new practice to market. Moreover, this practice is consistent with our vision of providing elite level advisory services to middle-market companies.”
The new practice is an organic outgrowth of SCP’s work in interim management, turnaround management, and restructuring that will help middle-market clients drive EBITDA growth by building on strengths and addressing pain points to maintain their growth. SCP’s performance improvement team will focus on delivering long-term strategic advice and hands-on execution that will help clients improve operations, establish more rigorous financial controls, and build confidence among their key stakeholders including customers, suppliers and investors.
“Performance improvement is what I’ve focused on for quite a long time now. As the economy rebounds it’s a major market opportunity,” said Mr. Peters. “I’m thankful that Larry and the SCP team recognize this opportunity, and that they have given me the chance to lead this practice that will help middle-market companies take a proactive stance toward identifying challenges and improving EBITDA results. I’m looking forward to putting my experience to work.”
Peters has 35 years of experience helping a wide range of clients improve their performance and tackle their most pressing growth challenges. Prior to joining SCP, Mr. Peters served as Director and CEO of Enovation Partners, an advisory firm serving clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Earlier in his career, Mr. Peters served as a partner at McKinsey & Company and AlixPartners and held several senior roles at operating companies and boutique advisory firms across multiple industries. Mr. Peters holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
