Raymond James expanded its capabilities in the Recapitalization & Restructuring Investment Banking group with the addition of senior banker Richard Klein. During his more than 25 year career, Klein has advised boards of directors, official and ad hoc creditors committees, private equity sponsors, and various creditor constituencies on transactions involving more than $100 billion of restructured liabilities. Klein's transaction expertise includes in-court and out-of-court restructurings, M&A transactions, section 363 asset sales, rescue financing, and exchange offers.
Klein has transaction experience in a number of industries that align with existing Raymond James coverage areas, including Energy, Healthcare, Industrials, Aerospace & Defense, Technology, Consumer, and Retail and Restaurants, and will serve as a resource to all industry bankers whose clients require specific counsel in restructuring.
“Our goal is to deliver to clients great expertise and optimal outcomes, and to do that we are always searching for well-regarded bankers who can unlock value and use a broad network of connections while navigating clients through complex distressed transactions,” said Geoffrey Richards, head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Investment Banking team. “Richard is a talented professional who can advise across a number of different sectors and diligently serve the unique needs of clients.”
Klein joins Raymond James from Miller Buckfire. He had previously worked in the restructuring groups at Jefferies and Houlihan Lokey. He began his career at CIT Group.
“Raymond James has an impressive investment banking platform and suite of services that are centered on delivering successful outcomes to clients,” Klein said. “There’s an impressive culture here and I’m thrilled to build on the growing momentum created by Geoff and the entire Recapitalization & Restructuring team.”
Based in New York City, Klein joins a growing team of 13 senior bankers that most recently welcomed Jacob Czarnick from Perella Weinberg Partners in April.
Raymond James’ Recapitalization & Restructuring practice is focused on providing expertise in pre-crisis situations, out-of-court workouts and court supervised reorganizations to companies in financial distress and to their different constituencies. The Recapitalization & Restructuring group has advised clients on more than $10 billion of private financings and over 200 recapitalization and restructuring transactions involving $100+ billion of debt.
