Stephen Grant joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in the Capital Markets and Securities Practice Group in the firm’s Houston office.

Grant focuses his practice on corporate finance and securities law, including securities offerings, M&A, private equity transactions and general corporate representation. He has extensive experience advising companies, investment banks and underwriters in connection with public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, including SEC registered capital markets transactions, private placements and Rule 144A/Reg S issuances. Grant counsels public company clients and their boards on corporate governance matters, Exchange Act reporting and SEC compliance. In addition, he regularly represents companies in strategic investments and M&A transactions, both public and private.

He comes to Haynes and Boone from Thompson & Knight, LLP, where he was a corporate partner.

“Stephen has a unique breadth of experience and has represented clients in capital markets and M&A transactions in the energy, technology, financial advisory and mining industries,” said Haynes and Boone Partner Jennifer Wisinski, who is chair of the Business Transactions Department. “He is a well-regarded lawyer who not only possesses considerable technical skill but also understands market conditions and advises his clients from a legal and commercial perspective.”

Ricardo Garcia-Moreno, managing partner of the Houston office, added: “We are very excited to have Stephen join our growing Houston corporate practice. He will be a valuable resource to our clients.”

Much of Stephen’s focus has been in the energy sector, working across the value chain with upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas companies, as well as oilfield services companies. He also is well-positioned to support Haynes and Boone’s strong practice in the renewables/green energy space.

Stephen said he was drawn to Haynes and Boone because of its strong collaborative culture and complementary practices and the opportunity to help grow the firm’s capital markets and M&A practices.

“Haynes and Boone is a great fit for me culturally and offers an incredible platform to represent middle-market companies at a time when many are looking to grow as they evaluate existing asset base, market opportunities and strategic direction,” he said. “At Haynes and Boone, I can deliver top-level client service to help companies achieve their goals in a practical, cost-effective manner.”

Haynes and Boone’s Capital Markets and Securities Practice Group delivers strategic solutions and provides comprehensive advice on a range of securities transactions and reporting matters. The group has helped companies raise capital and comply with evolving securities laws and practices for more than four decades. It provides securities counsel to more than 30 public companies ranging in size from small cap companies to large cap multi-national business entities.

The group represents clients traded on all of the major U.S. securities exchanges, the “over-the-counter” markets, and many foreign markets such as the London Stock Exchange Alternate Investment Market (AIM), the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. In addition to public companies, the firm also represents investment banks as underwriters and placement agents in capital markets transactions. The firm has significant experience in the energy, banking, technology, manufacturing, financial, biotech/life sciences, hospitality and transportation industries.
