Ballard Spahr represented Excel Physical Therapy in its recent partnership with Ivy Rehab Network, a transaction that will expand Ivy Rehab Network’s footprint to 73 locations in the Philadelphia region and 300 locations nationwide.
Founded in 1990 and known to the public since 2011 by its brand name E&A Physical Therapy, Excel Physical Therapy has 37 outpatient clinics throughout the Delaware Valley, with 160 manual therapists and 360 total employees.
“We thoughtfully came to the decision that in order to keep being a thriving and growing enterprise for the next 10 years, we wanted to take on a like-minded physical therapy partner to help us continue the legacy and carry on the next phase of the story,” Excel Physical Therapy founding partner Todd Logic said in a video statement. “We were often approached by interested suitors who want to merge or acquire the company. The timing and the suitor were never right, but now, after careful consideration and much diligence, we have found the right partner and believe it is the right time to work together with another leading physical therapy company who can help take Excel Physical Therapy to the next level.”
Business and Transactions attorneys Richard N. Hudock and Wesley R. Robinson led the interdisciplinary 21-member Ballard Spahr team, which included attorneys from the firm’s Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and Phoenix offices and Intellectual Property, Labor and Employment, Mergers and Acquisitions, Real Estate, and Tax teams.
