Mourning Palmer Hamilton, a Beloved Colleague and Friend

October 19, 2021, 07:09 AM

The International Factoring Association (IFA) and the American Factoring Association (AFA) is saddened to announce the passing of lobbyist Palmer Hamilton, a colleague and friend. The IFA is the world’s largest association of commercial finance companies, and the AFA is the industry’s lobbying arm committed to the betterment of the factoring community. As the AFA’s lobbyist, Hamilton was a wise counselor and instrumental in building relationships in government on behalf of the AFA.

"Palmer was our lobbyist since the very beginning of the organization, and became a friend to all of us,” said Cole Harmonson, AFA president. “His knowledge, kindness and generosity of spirit will not be forgotten – he was always there when we needed him. He leaves a tremendous legacy through all he accomplished and everyone he guided, and we will miss him greatly.”

Hamilton was a partner in the Government Relations Practice Group at the Jones Walker law firm and served as the head of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Over the years he represented clients before the U.S. Congress and advised numerous elected and appointed officials across the country. He held senior posts within several administrations and actively represented clients in Congress for four decades, with a particular focus on finance and government affairs.

The AFA Board of Directors will continue their longstanding relationship with the firm of Jones Walker to carry on the association’s work in Washington.
