Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) reinforced its transformation capabilities for driving change and maximizing value through the appointment of Washington, DC-based Michael Lawless as a Managing Director within the firm’s Corporate Performance Improvement (CPI) practice. This hire demonstrates A&M’s continuing commitment to enhance its digital transformation offerings in support of clients’ evolving needs.

Lawless brings more than 30 years of experience helping clients create value through effective growth strategies, digital marketing, data and analytics, design and innovation. His innovative approach has produced positive results across a variety of industry sectors including consumer packaged goods, hospitality and renewable energy. His joining builds on A&M’s digital transformation work with boards, clients and best practices for digital acceleration.

“A&M’s restructuring heritage and legacy of operational excellence is the foundation for our transformation offerings and our ability to execute on bottom-line improvements and cost structuring initiatives for clients,” said A&M Managing Director Mike Davidson, who co-leads the firm’s Corporate Performance Improvement division. “Michael’s expertise fortifies our value proposition on the other side of the performance equation that includes profitable growth, revenue enhancement and significant results driven through digital transformation efforts.”

Lawless has built teams that have led digital transformation efforts at Fortune 500 companies and other leading organizations. His teams have run P&Ls for new businesses and introduced products, services and business models that transformed customer experiences.

Lawless comes to A&M from Accenture, where he served as a Managing Director. He also served as a Design Lead for Accenture Interactive, co-founding that firm’s growth strategy practice. Additionally, Mr. Lawless has worked as the Fjord Design and Innovation Studio Lead for Accenture Federal Services, and as a Senior Manager of Insights and Strategy. Previously, he held roles at SunEdison, AOL and Coca-Cola.

Lawless earned a bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Virginia, and an MBA, with honors, from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
