Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has extended its transformation offerings by adding Jonathan Zanger as a Senior Director with A&M’s Corporate Performance Improvement (CPI) practice in Houston.

Zanger specializes in technology-led enterprise transformations with a focus on digital, information technology (IT) strategy and operations, and cost management. He has delivered digital and IT advisory support for Fortune 500 organizations across a wide range of industries including energy, high tech, consumer and retail, and financial services. As a trusted partner to C-suite and senior executives, Zanger deploys innovative digital and analytic processes, and IT strategies to fundamentally transform operations.

Zanger’s joining A&M continues to demonstrate the firm’s technology-led transformation capabilities expansion, following on the appointment of Managing Directors Frederic Ramioulle and Michael Lawless, who are focused on digital transformation across automotive, consumer package goods, hospitality and renewable energy industry sectors.

“A&M is committed to aligning the growth of our transformation offerings with clients’ evolving needs and changing market demands amidst ongoing disruptions and challenges,” said Jean Hill, Managing Director with A&M’s CPI practice and National Solution Leader for CPI’s Digital and Technology Services  practice. “Jonathan has an established reputation for creating solutions that enable technology-led enterprise transformations and drive change. He has extensive experience collaborating with, managing and leading teams. His expertise dovetails with A&M’s operational heritage, results-oriented mindset and dedication to maximizing value.”

Zanger’s digital transformation experience includes overseeing digital strategy, pilot use cases and digital factory design for a leading exploration and production company. While there, he consulted there with the Chief Information Officer to improve capital investment returns, reduce operating costs and reposition resources that delivered $22 million in annual savings.

As part of a two-year, $2 billion cost restructuring program at a leading telco, Zanger led an IT workstream with an annual spend of over $900 million. He created a future-state IT model that streamlined services and infrastructure and repositioned relationships with key technology partners, delivering over $160 million in year-over-year cost savings, along with improvements in service delivery and technology architecture updates.

Additionally, Zanger directed a complete redesign of the business architecture for IT services at a top-five retail company that improved technology return by 7 percent. The effort addressed both operating expense (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) drivers of over $1 billion of annual spend to realize over $50 million in the first year.
Prior to joining A&M, Zanger served as a Principal Director and Account Lead for Accenture and a Partner and Digital Practice Lead for Enaxis Consulting. Previously, he was a Principal in IT Strategy at Kearney.
