FTI Consulting announced the appointment of Ernie Chung as a Managing Director in the Telecom, Media & Technology (“TMT”) industry practice within the firm’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment.
Based in Denver, Chung brings over 22 years of experience providing a broad range of transaction-related services to investors and corporate M&A teams, with a focus on the space industry. At FTI Consulting, Mr. Chung will focus on the space and satellite value chain, including target identification, commercial and operational due diligence, post-merger integration planning and merger execution.
“FTI Consulting has led or participated in a multitude of high-profile satellite company transactions over the years,” said Luke Schaeffer, Global Co-Leader of the Telecom, Media & Technology industry practice at FTI Consulting. “With years of experience as a consultant and entrepreneur, Ernie brings an operational perspective to our practice that will help clients bring technology and services to the space market faster.”
In addition to Chung’s aerospace and defense experience, he has worked with many other high-tech and highly engineered products, including home automation, IoT, energy efficiency, nuclear power generation and power sports. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Chung was the space-domain practice leader at a management consulting firm, where his clients included satellite suppliers, launchers and operators. Previously, Chung spent six years as managing partner at a strategy and management consultancy that he co-founded. Prior to that, he spent a year as acting chief operating officer and chief financial officer for a home automation company.
Chung began his consulting career at Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, Va., where he spent seven years on strategy, management and technology consulting in the aerospace and defense and energy sectors.
Commenting on his appointment, Chung said, “Despite all the technological advancement in space over the past 20 years, much of the financial and programmatic challenges — the business end of space — still remain. I am excited to join the team as it continues to translate technology for the business community to reveal the ultimate economic value of space technology.”
