In its commitment to support the communities where it operates, Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada has completed its inaugural United Way campaign. Several local organizations will benefit from the company’s donations. These include Anna et la Mer, the Lunchbox Café and Le Cheval Sautoir.

“The results of our participation with the United Way have been more than gratifying,” said François Nantel, President of Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada. “The dedication and involvement we have seen from our 300 employees across Canada is humbling.”

With the goal to support a wide variety of needs, the company undertook a variety of activities to help United Way over the past several months. These activities include:

  • Monetary contribution: With employee contributions and company matching funds, Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada donated $77,000 to United Way.
  • ECHL experience: Earlier this month, employees of Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada hosted 15 children from Anna Et La Mer at a Trois-Rivières Lions ECHL professional minor-league hockey game. The young people were from families in which a parent is living with a mental health disorder. Their VIP treatment included sitting on the players’ bench during warm-up, watching the game in an arena dressing room, and meeting Lions players.
  • Employee lunchbox program: One day each week, Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada offers all employees working in-office a free lunchbox from one of two United Way-affiliated organizations. The Lunchbox Café (Burlington, Quebec) is a training cafe for adults with developmental disabilities. Le Cheval Sautoir (Trois-Rivières) supports families, parents, children and professionals in the community develop skills, healthy lifestyles and self-esteem.

“We believe strongly in the mission of the United Way,” said Nantel. That mission of helping both children and adults locally helps build strong and healthy communities, he explained, while tying with the company’s organizational mission to help build strong local businesses. “We love being involved in our community and making a difference.”
