Cambridge Wilkinson announced that Laurie Pinto has joined the firm as a Managing Director - CW Sports & Entertainment Division:
Mr. Pinto was born and grew up in London and graduated from the University of Westminster with a degree in law. Laurie has recently focused on several sports related transactions in various senior positions. In the years prior, Laurie has had a long and distinguished career in banking with cross border investments and deal structuring. He started in the banking industry in the early 80s and has worked in a variety of senior roles which carried transaction execution and team management skills. More recently he has been involved with building and then selling his interest in his last venture to Everbright Sun Hung Kai which is a China focused advisory business. In 2021 Laurie was appointed as an external Advisor to the Facebank Group and currently advises the founder and team on football related interests. Facebank Group is an innovative tech company that is engaged in developing and promoting human likeness technologies and its application. The group also has purchased stakes in 4 major football clubs with a deep plan to build a world class multi-club business.
In the mid 1990’s Laurie had become a director of Commerzbank before joining the US firm DLJ International as a Director where he ran the agency hedge fund business. After DLJ was taken over, Laurie joined Dresdner Kleinwort as a Director. In 2003, Laurie was appointed Chairman of the Board of Pali International. Pali was a broker dealer firm which built into a business between London, New York, and Singapore. Laurie headed the platform out of the US and focused heavily on event driven funds and cross border Mergers and Acquisitions. His appointment lasted until 2008 when he joined North Square Capital initially as Chairman of the board and then as Chief Executive Officer.Since then, alongside his family interests he has diversified his activities. Laurie was a Director of the House of Britannia from 2015 to 2017, a business set up to take UK focused brands and promote them globally. From April 2018 to September 2021 Laurie worked as a Senior Advisor at Momenta Group Global. Momenta Group Global has teams of specialists in the UK, USA, Australia, Indian and Hong Kong, who work directly on Human Resources project outsourcing generally for large financial institutions. In 2018 he also started working as Senior Consultant of Blackstar Capital. By marrying technology with financial structuring expertise, Blackstar Capital has created an evolutionary funding approach to provide receivable financing to the suppliers of major corporate buyers, on an industrial scale. Laurie was appointed Chairman of the board in 2019 a position he held until 2021. Laurie is married with two children and lives in London.
