William Blair announced the continued expansion of the firm’s Private Capital Advisory investment banking practice with the addition of two senior hires. Based in Charlotte and focused on fund placement in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and South regions, Matthew Flynn joins as managing director and Hudson Collins joins as director in New York.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Matt and Hudson to William Blair and the Private Capital Advisory team,” said Mike Custar, head of Private Capital Advisory at William Blair. “Their addition to our team significantly enhances our fund placement platform, further expanding our capital formation capabilities for our financial sponsor clients.”
Flynn draws on 17 years of private fund placement experience, including fund evaluation, market preparation, and primary distribution services for clients. Flynn joins from Campbell Lutyens, where he served as managing director in private capital advisory, and Credit Suisse, where he served as a director in the private funds group. He earned his B.S. in business administration from the University of North Carolina.
Collins brings more than 10 years of private fund placement experience, with a particular focus on fund distribution. He joins from Credit Suisse, where he served as a director in private funds group, and has held roles with Eaton Partners (the private capital advisory subsidiary of Stifel Nicolaus), MVision Private Equity Advisers, and McColl Partners. Collins earned his B.A. in history from Brown University.
“It is my pleasure to join William Blair’s Private Capital Advisory group, a growing team providing financial sponsors and limited partners a comprehensive suite of advisory and capital raising solutions,” Flynn said. “Together with Hudson, I look forward to building on the firm’s expansion into fund placement, where we can leverage existing sponsor relationships to integrate into the firm’s platform.”
William Blair announced its Private Capital Advisory practice in May 2022 with the hiring of Custar and director Quinn Kolberg, and has since added managing director Jeff Hypes, as well as directors Tom Marking, Gage Alpert, Jake Stuiver, Nick Ohler, and Andrew Viehe, alongside several other seasoned private capital advisory professionals.
