First Citizens Bank announced that its Middle Market Banking business has named Matthew Tollenaer as a managing director and market leader dedicated to originating and cultivating business in Atlanta and the surrounding region.
Tollenaer will be responsible for acquiring and managing a portfolio of middle market banking relationships and delivering a full suite of commercial banking products and services. He will serve as the primary relationship management contact and partner closely with various sales associates to build and manage full banking relationships. Based in Atlanta, he will report to Brendan Chambers, who leads First Citizens Middle Market Banking.
“Matthew has a strong track record of generating new client relationships and managing commercial banking portfolios,” said Brendan Chambers. “We are excited to welcome him to our team and look forward to seeing the benefit his leadership and expertise will have as we grow our business in the Southeast.”
Prior to joining First Citizens, Tollenaer served as senior relationship manager, Corporate Banking at PNC Bank, where he managed a portfolio of corporate banking relationships with public and large private companies headquartered in Georgia. Prior to that, he served as relationship manager, Commercial Banking at PNC Bank, where he drove new business development in the Georgia market. Earlier in his career, he held several roles at Bank of America in Global Commercial Banking.
Tollenaer currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Illinois University.
