Grant Thornton announced that Claudia Douglass has joined the firm as a principal and Healthcare industry growth leader.
Douglass, a former chief operating officer and strategy leader who brings three decades of healthcare experience to Grant Thornton, will help the firm’s healthcare clients accelerate their transformation goals through enhanced and new offerings that span Grant Thornton’s service lines and geographic markets. She will also provide strategic insights into trends by contributing to Grant Thornton’s publications, research initiatives and events.
“From growth and finance to infrastructure, workforce and technology, the healthcare industry is facing unique challenges, while also entering a new age of possibilities,” said Lisa Walkush, Grant Thornton’s national managing principal of Industry. “Claudia understands this and has the proven experience to help our clients succeed in a dynamic market that requires transformative thinking. Not only will she help our clients grow and achieve their strategic priorities, but she will also help expand our firm’s healthcare industry practice.”
“With 30 years of healthcare experience, Claudia has advised clients on the issues that matter most, including strategy, operations and financial management,” said David Tyler, principal and national Healthcare industry leader at Grant Thornton. “That makes Claudia the perfect leader to join our team and help guide our clients through the ever-changing healthcare landscape.”
Her experiences include a focus on developing and leading complex strategic initiatives across multiple business units — primarily in the areas of strategic growth, quality and consumer experience; population health; ambulatory strategy and operations; virtual care and cost reduction.
Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Douglass was previously a principal in PwC’s Health Industries Advisory practice, where she served as the firm’s global and U.S.co-leader of Hybrid Care and Digital Health. Before that, she was a managing director in Deloitte’s Advisory Healthcare and Health Plan practice, where she led the firm’s Strategic Risk offerings. Earlier in her career, Douglass served as a health system senior vice president and chief operating officer, as well as a vice president of strategy.
“I'm honored to join the Grant Thornton Healthcare practice — a forward-thinking team that prioritizes its people and its clients," said Douglass about her new role. "Grant Thornton’s collaborative culture is the bedrock of the firm’s success, and I’m excited to help our healthcare clients achieve their growth goals by offering high-quality solutions through a uniquely personalized experience.”
Douglass is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute. She also is a member of the Healthcare Program Advisory Board for Winthrop University.
As a published thought leader, Douglass is frequently invited to speak at industry conferences on topics related to strategy, operational transformation, leadership, virtual care, value-based care, digital transformation and enterprise risk management. She received a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in international finance and marketing from the University of Miami. Douglass also completed an executive education program on leading digital transformation in healthcare at Harvard Medical School.
