Silver Creek Capital Management announced that David Matter has joined the Firm as Co-Chief Investment Officer. Matter was most recently a Managing Director and Co-Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA), BlackRock’s Hedge Fund Solutions business, which grew to more than $30 billion of client assets during his tenure.
In this role, Matter will partner with Eric Dillon, Silver Creek’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-Chief Investment Officer, to lead the Firm’s investment activities.
“We are thrilled to welcome an investment executive of Dave’s caliber to Silver Creek,” said Dillon. “We have come to know each other well and have found that we share a vision for the future of the alternative investment sector and for how to accelerate Silver Creek’s exciting growth trajectory. During his 30-year career, Dave was one of the driving forces in the dramatic growth of a complex alternative investment platform, and he has built many valuable high-level manager relationships. We are confident that his extensive experience and impressive track record position him to make important contributions to Silver Creek.”
“I am honored to have the opportunity to join Eric in leading Silver Creek’s investment platforms,” said Matter. “Having spent many years building a major alternatives business and creating novel structures for clients, I am very enthusiastic about the Firm’s many attractive opportunities in a rapidly evolving and challenging market. I look forward to collaborating with the entire Silver Creek team to advance our private credit, real assets, and absolute return asset businesses.”
At BlackRock, Matter also chaired the BAA Investment Committee and was a member of the BAA Management Committee and the Co-Investment Portfolio Management Group. He joined BlackRock in 2007 upon its acquisition of the core asset management business of Seattle-based Quellos Group, where he was a Principal and a member of the Investment Committee.
Matter began his career at Capital Group and later moved to Bankers Trust. He holds an MBA and MAIS from the University of Washington and a BS from the University of Pennsylvania.
