Perkins Coie announced that private funds partner Kerry Potter McCormick has joined the firm’s Corporate and Financial Regulation practices in New York. Kerry is the latest private funds partner to join the firm in New York following the addition of Private Capital & Fund Formation Practice Chair Jacquie Duval in June.

Kerry has extensive experience advising fund sponsors and alternative asset managers on the launch and operation of investment structures and products, including private funds, funds-of-one, managed accounts, and co-investment products. She advises private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate funds, credit funds, and funds-of-funds on all aspects of the product life cycle, from early-stage funding and negotiations to wind-downs.

“We’re excited to welcome another veteran private funds partner to our New York team and know that Kerry will provide valuable strategic guidance to our clients,” said Molly Moynihan, the firmwide chair of Perkins Coie’s Investment Management practice. “Growing our funds practice in New York, together with the recent opening of our London office and addition of top-of-the-market corporate lawyers, further strengthens the value-driven services we offer to private equity clients.”

“Kerry’s deep experience advising fund sponsors on fund formation, investor negotiations, restructurings, and transactions will add significant value to our capabilities,” said Jacquie Duval, Private Capital & Fund Formation practice chair. “Her addition further expands our ability to serve private funds and sophisticated investors in New York and beyond.”

Kerry joins Perkins Coie from Barnes & Thornburg LLP. She also previously served as a private funds and products counsel for Apollo Global Management, one of the largest global asset managers and private equity firms. Kerry is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Private Investment Funds Committee and is a longtime member of Women in Funds.

“The opportunity to join Perkins Coie and its talented team of private funds lawyers provided a highly compelling growth platform for my practice,” said Kerry. “I’m looking forward to working with my new colleagues and to guiding private funds clients on their full spectrum of legal needs, including venture capital investments.”

Kerry earned her B.A. from Temple University and her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law.
