Perkins Coie announced that David Delafield will be joining the firm on September 16 as its new chief financial officer (CFO). Delafield will lead the strategic financial planning for Perkins Coie’s international operations with annual revenue of over $1.2 billion.

Delafield will join Perkins Coie from Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where he has served as CFO since 2018. Delafield previously served as CFO at Providence Health & Services, where he led financial oversight for a medical group with over 2,500 providers. He also worked at Deloitte and Microsoft earlier in his career in consulting and corporate accounting roles.

“David is a well-regarded and results-orientated financial leader who will help to further raise our performance as a leading advisor to the world’s most innovative companies and entrepreneurs,” said Bill Malley, Perkins Coie’s firmwide managing partner. “Perkins Coie continues to expand, including through the addition of our new London office, and David will play a key role in our strategic growth guiding the companies of tomorrow.”

Delafield will work closely with Perkins Coie’s leadership team on driving the firm’s financial vision and objectives. As CFO, he will manage and optimize the firm’s financial planning with respect to investments in its lawyers and business professionals, pricing and rates, cutting-edge technologies, and client-centric real estate.

“We’re excited to welcome a financial executive of David’s background to our team,” said Roger Wilkes, Perkins Coie’s chief operating officer. “Strategic financial management is critical to the success of our daily operations, and we know that David will deliver a dynamic new impetus to our firmwide financial management and planning.”

Perkins Coie has experienced notable growth in recent years and 2023 marked an all-time high for firm revenue. The firm recently opened a London office with a technology-focused corporate practice and has been named to Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For®” list for 22 consecutive years.

“I’m looking forward to joining Perkins Coie and to contributing to its future success as a leading firm to the technology sector,” said Delafield. “Perkins Coie has a standout reputation for legal excellence and client service and for its collaborative and inclusive culture.”

Delafield holds both an MBA and BA in business administration from Washington State University.
