Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the addition of Elan Ben-Avi as a Managing Director in its North America Commercial Restructuring (NACR) practice. Ben-Avi’s arrival underscores the practice’s ongoing talent investments, and enhances the firm’s ability to help clients navigate restructuring challenges amid economic volatility and evolving market conditions.
Ben-Avi’s advises clients on multinational restructurings, operational turnarounds, and distressed transactions across multiple industries, including industrial, maritime supply chains, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and retail. He works with companies and investor constituents on complex restructuring matters, both in and out of court, with a focus on business turnaround plans, restructuring strategies, cash flow forecasting and management, bankruptcy oversight, negotiating financing, and leading business and asset sales.
Prior to joining A&M, Ben-Avi served as a Managing Director, Turnaround & Restructuring at Ankura Consulting. Previously, he had served as a Partner with a lower middle-market private equity firm and as a Restructuring Director at Getzler Henrich, representing debtors, sponsors and creditors. In those positions, Mr. Ben-Avi held leadership roles including as COO and board member of a national fitness company, interim CEO and Chairman of a national beauty retailer, Chairman of a global accessories brand, and interim CEO of a personal care business.

Ben-Avi earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the State University of New York at Albany and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and American Bankruptcy Institute.
