Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS of NYC), the nation’s first and New York City’s largest youth mentoring organization, today named J. Michael Stanley to its Board of Trustees.

Stanley is Managing Director and Head of Rosenthal & Rosenthal, Inc’s (R&R’s) Factoring Division. Founded in 1938, R&R is one of the largest privately held factoring and financing institutions in the US, with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai.

“Michael’s leadership in the business community and passion for education make him a perfect addition to our Board,” said Hector Batista, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC. “The talent, experience and dedication of our Trustees are a driving force behind our efforts to change the lives of young people throughout the five boroughs, I am pleased to now count Michael among them.”

In May 2013, Stanley was honored by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New York City at its16th Annual Accountants and Bankers Reception, an event attended by several hundred professionals representing the accounting and finance industries.

Stanley also serves as a Director and Board Member of the Fashion Institute of Technology (a SUNY institution) and is the Chairman of their Finance Committee.  He sits on several other non-profit boards including The Needlers Foundation and The Fashion Service Network.

Prior to joining Rosenthal & Rosenthal in 1998, Stanley held executive positions at Nat West Commercial Services, Inc. and Barclays American Commercial.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC (BBBS of NYC), the nation’s oldest and NYC’s largest youth mentoring organization, has served the changing needs of New York City’s most at-risk youth since 1904. The volunteer- and donor-based organization offers a variety of specialized mentoring programs to help children facing more complex challenges – including immigrant youth, teen mothers and children of incarcerated parents – as well as the Workplace Mentoring Program, which helps businesses throughout New York City positively impact the lives of young people and build a foundation for professional success.
