Five shareholders from the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP have been named 2014 “Rising Stars” by Law360. According to the publication, the 2014 Rising Stars list includes 163 attorneys under 40, chosen from more than 1,000 entries, whose legal accomplishments belie their age.
One of the Greenberg Traurig attorneys named to the list, Robert J. Herrington, is one of only eight honorees to be named a Law360 Rising Stars during two consecutive years, landing the honor in both 2013 and 2014. He also was the only attorney in the country named to two different sections (Class Action and Products Liability) of Law360’s "Rising Stars Under 40" in 2013. Herrington is Co-Chair of the firm's Products Liability & Mass Torts Practice. He helps sophisticated business clients address complex disputes and competitive challenges to their products, services and business practices. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, including class actions in the areas of false advertising, unfair competition, food and beverage, consumer products, insurance, and products liability. He is in the Los Angeles office and was selected in the Class Action category.

Samantha Ahuja - Hospitality: Ahuja is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Ahuja advises domestic and international clients on the acquisition and disposition of hotels and other commercial property, hotel management and operations, franchising, licensing and branding, restaurant management agreements, and casino agreements. She regularly prepares and negotiates purchase and sale agreements, financing and development agreements and other documents related to the acquisition, financing, development, leasing, management and disposition of real and personal property with a special focus on hotels and resorts. Additionally, Ahuja has experience with HOPE VI developments in the Washington, D.C. Metro area involving bond syndication, PILOT financing, and various HUD components in the building and development of affordable housing.
Kristen J. Lonergan – Real Estate: Lonergan, a Real Estate practice shareholder in the firm’s New York office, provides counsel to REITs, investment funds, developers, lenders and other clients on the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of multi-family, office, hotel and other types of properties throughout New York and the United States.
Daniel Marinberg – Hospitality: Marinberg, a shareholder in the firm's Miami office, has wide-ranging experience in virtually all aspects of sophisticated real estate transactions in the hospitality industry, including hotel management negotiations, rebranding, and terminations, financings on behalf of borrowers and lenders, workouts, joint ventures, loan sales, leasing, development and the acquisition and disposition of both individual properties and multi-asset portfolios. He also assists his clients with international issues arising from these deals. He has experience in a wide-range of projects including, but not limited to, hotels, resorts, condominiums, condominium hotels, and mixed-use.
R. Clifton Merrell – Product Liability: Merrell, a shareholder the firm’s Atlanta office, focuses his practice on products liability litigation, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation. As national counsel for many pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, he has a wide range of experience managing products liability litigation in state court, federal court, and multidistrict litigation (MDL). His experience includes large mass tort actions as well as single plaintiff litigation. He has litigated cases involving a wide range of branded and generic pharmaceutical products for pain relief, depression, weight loss, birth control, and menopause. He has also litigated cases involving a wide range of medical devices, including insulin pumps, surgical mesh, endotracheal tubes, neurostimulators, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).
