Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded its Healthcare Industry Group with the addition of Gary Van House as a Senior Director in Dallas. Van House joins the group’s Hospitals and Health Systems Practice, which advises hospitals, integrated health systems, independent physician organizations and other physician entities on issues ranging from strategy and alignment to performance improvement and practice operations.
Bringing more than 30 years of healthcare industry experience, including leading multi-specialty medical practices, Van House specializes in helping health systems, hospitals and physicians in particular align interests, optimize business strategies and improve financial performance.

Before joining A&M, Van House served in management leadership roles at the Minneapolis-St. Paul-based Park Nicollet Medical Center and Columbia Park Medical Group. He also led as CEO at St. Louis University Physicians, a 500 provider academic practice.
As a consultant, he developed a corporate-based physician services consulting group for Ascension Health, and worked at Wellspring Partners/Huron Consulting Group. He has advised health systems ranging from small community hospital-based organizations to large, complex, multi-site health systems with revenues of $6 billion. He has helped improve the financial and operational performance of physician medical groups ranging from 30 to 1,000 providers.
Van House’s experience includes work with revenue cycle management, provider productivity (peer-benchmarked goal setting with management interventions to reduce obstacles), coding (coding and documentation education and monitoring programs), labor/productivity for clinical and administrative support staff, supply chain/contracting, physician compensation and service line strategic contribution analysis.
