April 20, 2015, 07:15 AM

The Birmingham Buisiness Journal reported Simply Fashion, the Birmingham-based urban fashion retailer, which operates nearly 250 stores in 25 states, said declining sales was one of the primary factors behind the bankruptcy. The company filed bankruptcy along with its general partner, Adinath Corp.

According to the Birmingham Buisiness Journa report, in a court filing, the restructuring officer for the retailer said the company expects some Simply Fashion locations will be forced to close as part of the process. It did not disclose how many stores would close. The company has 1,332 employees. The company's filing listed more than $24.7 million in debts. It said the retail value of its inventory is about $22 million, while it also has $5.8 million in equipment and other fixed assets and about $440,000 in estimated credit card receivables.
