Hilco Merchant Resources Names Fredericks SVP, Strategic Growth

Hilco Merchant Resources (HMR) announced that it has named Ian Fredericks to the new position of SVP - Strategic Growth/Client Development and Chief Legal Officer effective September 1, 2015.  Fredericks has most recently been serving as the VP and Assistant General Counsel at the Northbrook, Illinois based holding company - Hilco Global.  

As SVP of Strategic Growth - Client Development and Chief Legal Officer, Mr. Fredericks will have specific responsibility for leading HMR corporate growth initiatives; developing new business opportunities for the expanding HMR global retail platform – including current operations in Australia; serving in an advisory capacity to the boards of the recently acquired Hilco Fixture Finders and Deal Genius businesses; and, providing general legal support for all other ongoing HMR initiatives.

In this new position, Fredericks will report directly to Michael Keefe – CEO of Hilco Merchant Resources and serve as a critical part of the management of HMR, one of the world’s largest retail disposition firms.  Keefe said “We’re excited to have Ian join our team.  He will be responsible for several critical growth initiatives as well as ongoing legal and transactional administration within Hilco Merchant Resources as we continue to expand our business around the world”.

Keefe continued, “As an integral member of the HMR executive management team, Ian provides tremendous bench strength for the continued growth and future of HMR.  In this new position, he will provide us with a unique strategic advantage, delivering both hands on retail deal execution experience as well as extensive legal knowledge, which will undoubtedly help to service existing retail clients while identifying, structuring and closing new deals going forward.”

Prior to joining Hilco Global, Fredericks worked at the law firm of Skadden-Arps, where he served in the Corporate Restructuring group.  Prior to Skadden he was with Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor in the Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring group.

Early in his career Ian served with a United States Bankruptcy Judge in the Bankruptcy Court in Philadelphia, PA, as well as the U.S. Attorney's Office in Philadelphia.  A Cum Laude graduate of Temple University Law School in May, 2003, Ian also attended St. John's University School of Law where he received a post-graduate degree in Bankruptcy law.

Hilco Merchant Resources LLC, provides a wide range of analytical, advisory, monetization, and capital investment services to help define and execute a retailer’s strategic initiatives and retail disposition needs.  The firm’s activities fall into several principal categories including acquisitions; store closing sales and the disposition of underperforming stores; retail company or division wind downs; event sales to convert unwanted assets into working capital; interim company, division or store management teams; loss prevention; and, the monetization of furniture, fixtures and equipment.
